Oy, I love people who move out and leave crap.

Yep, if they leave shit, it becomes yours and you are liable for the removal cost. If you wanted to be really vindictive, you could have it moved to the sidewalk, declare it abandoned and have the city deal with it. If it's in their name, they'll have to deal with that or have it on their credit/bothered by collection agencies.

your call.

If you guys are donating it, I would still double check with the DMV to see if there is anything that needs to be done, paperwork wise.

I am so excited for you. Woohoo!

And for the record, itdoesn't just happen on the East coast. i worked inthe title insurance industry here in Utah for 10 years and closings *still* happen around the table. You just don't the keys until the loan funds, usuall 2 or 3 days after closing. :)

But yeah - I'm so thrilled for you guys. It will be awesome for your little family :)

Once they have moved out, all parties have signed the papers, and you've received the keys, whatever is there on the property is yours. To be absolutely safe, I would send an email to the sellers, stating that they seem to have left this car on the property, and confirming with them that they meant to do that. (This gives you confirmation of abandonment.) I would be giving the DMV a call to find out what needs to be done if you want to keep the car and use it as yours.
